Flat tops have the task to retain the fibres so that the cylinder wire can fully develop its carding effect. In the process, they must absorb high levels of force but at the same time respond flexibly to prevent fibre damage.
The TCC foundation has a two-fold benefit: It provides a firm support for the hooks while ensuring sufficient flexibility. This flexibility allows a certain "evasion" of the hooks; however, they always return to their initial position. This results in consistently good carding during the entire service life of the flat top.
